Brahman Run 2008

Brahman Run - Everybody turned up on the Friday (6th) morning at BP Caboolture well before the 6:30am departure time, we had a quick catchup and coffee.

It was great to see some of the crew from the Gold Coast and Sth Queensland Chapters along for the weekend... Thanks guys for making the time !!! Formed up and departed by 6:30am to begin our trek north...

The Sgt At Arms called for a quick smoke stop at Gympie... With that out of the way we continued up north to Maryborough for fuel and a couple of smokes and then we were back on our way...

A stop off at Gin Gin for lunch then back on the road... Fuel & smoke stop at Miriam Vale... Boof found us here... he had ridden down from Bluff... Back on the bikes and up to the Raglan Hotel for a couple of ales before heading in to Rockhampton.

Great day of riding with 'no' hassles... Smooth running...

Once in Rocky we setup camp at the Criterion Hotel/Motel... A few of us setup a table and managed to knock over a bottle of Jack before hitting the bar and making a night of it... We even did a bit of a pub crawl through town... But it didn't seem to work out to well as apparently Friday is the quiet night..!?

Saturday morning showed a few rough looking heads... Mine especially... One member had also received an unwanted late night visit to his room (enough said about that)... The President was in a really bad way... Apparently buying food from a street vendor at the end of the night is not a good idea... we left him to deal with that and headed out to catch up with some of the crew who were staying at a caravan park out of town... I was in no condition to ride so went pillion on Kid's bike.. I'm sure he will never forget the experience..!? After checking in with them and a bit of story telling of the night before's activities.. we returned.

Back at the Motel a few of us decided to head towards Yeppoon on the bikes... We headed off road and popped in to check out the Cockscomb Veteran Retreat that had been set up up for all Veterans to use... Fantastic place out in the bush and most certainly worth a revisit one day with the lads... Then back out of the bush and across to Yeppoon where we caught up with Bill and Viv... Fish and Chips on the beach.. Then back on the bikes to return to Rocky...

Upon our return we discovered the Townsville crew had hit town... and the President was back on his feet... with a bit of colour back in his face... Good to see the old fella was doing okay... We then popped back in to the pub to see that a few Patriots Moreton Bay crew had been manning the bar since it's early open... Plenty of drinking, catching up and a bit of partying was done.. Some of us hit the rack early.. but others managed to keep it going till early in the morning...

Up Early Sunday, packed up, loaded up and on the road.. heading south... Quiet a lot of stops here and there as a fair amount of the crew weren't running at 100%...

Bit of a haze run this as I'm not sure where we stopped... I was just following the bloke in front... I think we stopped for fuel at Bororen... What I do remember, is seeing one little thing... Bill and I came round a corner and nearly came off the road... For what we saw put us off course... It was Kid.. with his pants down around his shins and Lizard bent over with his head located around kid's crutch/upper leg area... It just wasn't right... after we managed to pull the bikes up and park them, the story was told by Kid that apparently a Bee had decided to attack him at 100+ k's... and lizard was just trying to do the right thing and locate the offending stinger.... Sure lads... Sure...

We finally made it in to Childers.. we had planned to camp the night here.. staying at the Palace Motel... We setup our rooms and then setup a round table for the customary demolishing of a bottle of bourbon before heading to the pub... Got to the pub and settled in for the night... Had a feed and a fair few drinks... I think it was another late one because the morning came round way too fast... Although I do remember befriending some guests back at the Motel and staying up drinking with them... Apparently a lot of them had won a pile of trophies at some Karate Tournament..

Monday morning... Up way to early... had a big feed... What a breakfast they cook at the Palace... packed up, loaded up and still trying to convince myself I could get back on the bike to make the rest of the way home... Can't remember what time we left... Can only remember we hit Gympie and said our goodbye's.. then back on the bikes and in to the rain and long weekend traffic.. Don't have a clue what time I got home.. Can remember I found the couch and managed to pass out for a few hours before getting up to unpack and sort out my kit from the weekends activities..

What a great weekend of riding, partying and hanging with my mates... Thanks to every one in my Patriot Family who helped make it a top weekend.... Can't wait till next year!
